Discover and understand the state of your inventory through Lansweeper Sites’ diagramming and mapping capabilities. Diagrams reveal the relationships between your assets using dynamically generated layouts, enabling dependency mapping and strengthening your inventory management.

Diagrams are a visual representation of the inventory synced to your Lansweeper Site. They are automatically generated based on how your installations and IP locations are configured in your inventory. Information is then organized into either network topologies or virtual environments, depending on your setup.

Understanding the relationships between your IT assets is crucial. It enables you to:

  • Identify underutilized or orphan assets to optimize resource allocation

  • Strengthen business continuity planning

  • Improve incident, change, and security management

  • Increase cost efficiency and support long-term strategic planning

For diagrams to work correctly, your installations must be synced with your Lansweeper Site, and your inventory must be correctly configured, including proper setup of IP locations.

For a feature overview and training video, see Fundamentals: How You Visualize Your Data.

FAQs

Why do diagrams matter?

IT environments are becoming increasingly complex, making it challenging to understand the scope and configuration of an organization’s IT systems.
Key challenges include:

  • Networks consisting of interconnected systems, applications, and hardware

  • Business-critical technologies being interdependent, where a single change can impact the entire infrastructure

  • Having a list of IT assets alone is not enough to maintain full control of your IT estate

What is the value of network mapping?

Network mapping goes beyond identifying IT assets to uncover their locations, connections, and interactions.
With network diagrams, you can:

  • Gain a complete picture of your IT environment

  • Improve communication and efficiency within IT teams

  • Identify interdependencies and understand the impact of one link on the whole system

  • Troubleshoot faster, streamline operations, and allocate resources effectively

Who can access diagrams?

All Lansweeper customers have access to diagrams, and can benefit from its visualization and mapping capabilities.
